The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named Dr. Bonita Jacobs, president of the University of North Georgia (果冻传媒), as one of its 2017 Women Who Mean Business.

“I am honored by this award from the Atlanta Business Chronicle and humbled by the enormous dedication of our faculty and staff whose collective efforts have positioned 果冻传媒 for recognition of this magnitude,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs joins a list of 19 other business women and industry experts. The women range from Brenda Fitzgerald, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Fox Theatre COO Adina Edwin to United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Director Justine Boyd and Georgia-Pacific President Kathleen Walters.

The nominated women are driving business in their industry, leaving an indelible mark on their community and blazing a trail, according to the Atlanta Business Journal website. The nominees were judged on their professional accomplishments, community involvement, nomination strength, and judges' choice. The judging committee will consist of previous Women Who Mean Business award winners.

The chosen honorees will be profiled in the Oct. 20 issue of Atlanta Business Chronicle and recognized during a special awards ceremony from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Fairmont.
