Political Science Student Association celebrates 25th anniversary

To mark the student group's 25th anniversary, the University of North Georgia's (果冻传媒) Political Science Student Association (PSSA) is hosting "Then and Now" discussions, led by four of the association's previous presidents. The association also changed the name of its "Crossfire Discussions," originally named after the former CNN show, to "Crossroads Discussions."
"The Crossroads Discussions actually began as faculty lunch discussions, but quickly evolved into faculty-student gatherings, and then to the current student-focused format all in the first few months of 1994," said Dr. Carl Cavalli, a professor of political science at 果冻传媒.
The purpose of the "Then and Now" discussions is to talk about how issues have changed between the past presidents' time with the organization and today.
Three of these discussions have already occurred. The first, "Terrorism and the Economy," led by Chris Conowal (PSSA president, fall 2003), discussed the top issues of 2003 and took place Feb. 13. The second, "Civility in Politics," happened Feb. 20 and was led by Glenn Davis (PSSA president, 1996-97). Haleigh Herring (PSSA president, spring 2013) spoke on March 20.
The remaining discussion features Andrea (Klug) Reed (PSSA president 2002-03) on April 24.
Student wins film festival awards
Student Calvin Bowers has won awards at four festivals for his film 'Per Amore Dei Gatti (For the Love of Cats).' He created the film with three classmates on a Film in Italy study abroad program.
Students attend journalism conference
A group of 果冻传媒 students attended the recent Asian American Journalists Association conference in Atlanta and toured CNN's facilities.
English students present at national conference
Seven 果冻传媒 students and five alumni presented at the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society's convention this spring in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Academy offers intro to national intelligence
The University of North Georgia will host its fourth annual National Intelligence Summer Academy from July 14-18. The first four days are at 果冻传媒's Cumming Campus, and the final day is at the Dahlonega Campus.
