Beverly Long, purchasing director for the University of North Georgia (¹û¶³´«Ã½), has been serving the community through her charity work at the South Bend United Methodist Church (UMC) in Gainesville, Georgia for 10 years this May.
Long heads up the task force of outreach missions for the church, which collaborates with , an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and aid to the world’s most vulnerable.
For its part, South Bend UMC packages more than 10,000 highly nutritious dehydrated meals made up of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals for people in need.
"It is a small church, but our members are very dedicated and believe in giving back to the local community, as well as worldwide," Long said, adding the church raised approximately $3,000 to pay for the meals. "We had 40- 50 volunteers for the assembly-line packaging of 10,000."
