Four ¹û¶³´«Ã½ students present research to state legislators

Four University of North Georgia (¹û¶³´«Ã½) students presented their research to members of the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate during the "Posters at the Capitol" event in late February.
Some 54 students from 15 colleges and universities attended the second annual event that spotlights undergraduate research. Only 42 of 78 projects were accepted from private and public institutions throughout Georgia.
Representing ¹û¶³´«Ã½ were:
- Destiny Kelly of Sugar Hill, Georgia, who is pursuing a psychology degree
- Bradley Andrew of Ellijay, Georgia, who is pursuing a physics degree
- Maria Mayorga-Gutierrez of Lawrenceville, Georgia, who is pursuing a biology degree
- Jacob Malimban of Cumming, Georgia, who is pursuing a computer science degree
The program is modeled on the popular "Posters on the Hill" event held each year by the Council on Undergraduate Research in Washington D.C. This year, the Georgia Undergraduate Research Collective adopted the statewide event, which includes projects that range from accounting, biomedical technology and environmental engineering to health communications, political science and education.
18 named DMS cadets for 2024-25
Eighteen ¹û¶³´«Ã½ cadets earned Distinguished Military Student status for the 2024-25 academic year.
Freshmen take first  at Soda City Debate  
¹û¶³´«Ã½â€™s debate team members Maya Adok and Alexandra Soto place first at the Soda City Debate hosted by the University of South Carolina.   
Students explore study away programs
Sixteen ¹û¶³´«Ã½ students participated in two study away programs in the U.S., one in Iowa for agriculture and the other in South Carolina for archaeology.
Edwards selected as fellow to DC program
¹û¶³´«Ã½ junior William Edwards is the school's presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress for 2024-25.
