University of North Georgia (¹û¶³´«Ã½) men's basketball player  was recently appointed to the NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

This nationwide, highly selective committee includes members from every Division II conference. Brown will represent the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) for a nonrenewable three-year term.

"I look forward to seeing Zach take on this new role and implement his leadership skills as he has always represented ¹û¶³´«Ã½ with class and integrity," said Lindsay Reeves, ¹û¶³´«Ã½ director of athletics. "And I know he will do the same for the Peach Belt Conference at the national level."

Brown, a redshirt junior from Princeton, New Jersey, just finished up his first year in a Nighthawk uniform, averaging 8.2 points per contest. He scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-best 20-point outing at Southern Wesleyan. After serving as a member of SAAC at his previous school (Hartford), Brown now serves as treasurer on ¹û¶³´«Ã½'s SAAC Executive Board.

The SAAC serves as the primary governance arm representing student-athlete interests in Division II affairs.

Brown has already taken part in a SAAC initiative that encourages student-athletes to register to vote.

"This is a wonderful leadership and learning opportunity for me, as well as an opportunity for me to make a real impact on student-athletes across the country and hopefully create positive change," Brown said.
