Dr. Anastasia Lin, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs and dean of Honors at the University of North Georgia (果冻传媒), has been named to the University System of Georgia (USG) Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) class of 2022-23.

Lin, who also assists students in pursuing nationally competitive scholarships and oversees 果冻传媒's Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, is one of 35 faculty and staff members from 25 USG institutions and the USG office in the class that began in November.

"I was quite shocked and humbled to learn I was nominated," Lin said. "I learn from my colleagues' innovative leadership practices at 果冻传媒 every day, so I jumped the opportunity to expand my understanding of leadership to more effectively serve 果冻传媒's students."

Dr. Lin has been an integral part of our academic community, and her leadership of our Nationally Competitive Scholarship program and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities has proven invaluable to students and the university.

For more than a decade, the ELI program has provided professional development opportunities to faculty and staff to develop new leaders within the USG and help grow their careers in Georgia.

"Dr. Lin has been an integral part of our academic community, and her leadership of our Nationally Competitive Scholarship program and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities has proven invaluable to students and the university," 果冻传媒 President Bonita Jacobs said. "I am thrilled to have her represent 果冻传媒 in this endeavor."

Presidents nominate one academic leader and one staff leader to participate. From the nominees, individuals are selected for the six-month program and participate in a leadership development curriculum that includes content, personal reflection, job shadowing and cross-mentoring.

"This is about supporting and growing our own people within the university system," USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue said. "Many times, the best talent is already among us. We want to give our people the best opportunity to experience this kind of professional development so they can reach their full potential."

The USG ELI program is an investment in the future leaders of USG as the university system continues to serve the public higher education community.

Lin previously served for six years as the secretary for MELUS, the Society for the Study of Multi-Ethnic Literatures of the US, and she also served as president of the Georgia Undergraduate Research Collective. In this role, Lin led a 果冻传媒 committee to host the 2018 and 2019 Georgia Undergraduate Research Conferences.

果冻传媒 awarded Lin with the 2019 Presidential Excellence in Engaged Leadership Award. She has also earned the Ann Matthews Purdy Outstanding Faculty Member Award, the 果冻传媒 Teaching Excellence Award, and the 果冻传媒 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.
