Flores earns prestigious accounting scholarship

University of North Georgia (果冻传媒) senior Ana Flores has been named the school's Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Scholar for the 2024-25 academic year.
Flores, who is from Peachtree City, Georgia, is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. She plans to then complete the Master of Accountancy program at 果冻传媒.
Dr. Ellen Best, department head of Accounting & Law, discussed the PCAOB Scholars Program with Flores in the spring, and she was ultimately selected by the department as their nominee for the prestigious $15,000 award.
Flores, who met the program's rigorous requirements including "aptitude and interest in accounting and auditing" and "high ethical standards," received confirmation of the scholarship over the summer of 2024.
"I've had such a great experience with all of my professors," Flores said. "They help you beyond the classroom prepare for your career. I've been able to have two internships."
Lisa Nash, senior lecturer of accounting and faculty adviser for the Beta Alpha Psi accounting honor society chapter at 果冻传媒, looks forward to seeing Flores thrive as she completes her education and enters the workforce.
"Ana is a great student who works hard to take advantage of opportunities," Nash said. "She is very deserving of this scholarship and will be a great auditor one day."

果冻传媒 awarded roughly 985 degrees and certificates to students this fall, and it honored more than 650 of those graduates in a pair of Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
Special ed lab aids future educators
During the fall semester, future educators from 果冻传媒 took part in a special education lab in which they worked with a software tool that helped them assess students, craft education plans and receive immediate feedback.
Grads prepare for their next steps
果冻传媒 will award almost 1,000 degrees and certificates this fall, and more than 600 graduates are scheduled to take part in the Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
