Scott Lacey received his B.A. in Studio Art from the University of North Georgia in 2018, earning the prestigious Hal. B. Rhodes Student of the Year Award. After graduation, he continued a relationship with the Department of Visual Arts as studio assistant and lifelong friend. His artworks have been featured in regional exhibitions and won awards.

Lacey's extensive background in sculptural construction and landscape design has greatly contributed to the preservation and expansion of outdoor spaces in the North Georgia area over the years. In 2004, he designed and built the first public nature garden at the Lumpkin County Library, and shortly after, he designed the layout and built the walking trails, outdoor classrooms, and gardens at Yahoola Creek Park in Dahlonega. In 2009, he received a $10,000 grant on behalf of the Yahoola Creek Trail Conservancy which included mapping software and planning assistance for additional trails. For twenty years, he has worked with the Wildflower Festival of the Arts to educate the public about native edible and medicinal flower species.

Lacey’s sculptures evoke gentle natural forms through organic geometry. His love of the outdoors and talent in sculptural design and construction are best represented in the outdoor sculptures he created and installed on the Dahlonega and Oconee campuses at the University of North Georgia.
