Textiles Area

The Textiles area is grounded in traditional textile techniques and materials, as well as modern and contemporary processes and materials. You will explore a variety of techniques (dyeing and sewing, knitting and crocheting, needle and wet felting, and weaving) and use them in more conceptual projects that are either sculptural or two-dimensional.

The textiles track will expand technical repertoire in mark-making and surface design, hand and free-motion embroidery, heat manipulation of man-made materials, digital repeat-pattern design, Thermofax screen printing, textile collage and more. You can also pursue weaving which focuses on floor loom weaving, traditional patterns, how to be artists at the loom and create unique woven art.
