The University of North Georgia (¹û¶³´«Ã½) Libraries welcome purchase recommendations by ¹û¶³´«Ã½ faculty members, staff members, students, and community members.

Recommending a Purchase

To recommend a purchase of a book or DVD for the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Libraries’ collections:

1. Contact the librarian responsible for selecting items in a subject area, or 
2. Complete the Recommendation for ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Libraries Purchase form. Please fill out a separate request form for each recommended item.

Note: For lists of items, please contact a librarian to discuss and prioritize the list, rather than use the form, which is better for individual item recommendations.

All items recommended may not be purchased automatically; however, if you are recommending an item that will support a particular course, please include that information in your request.

Guidelines

Library materials purchasing is guided by the following considerations:

• Supports ¹û¶³´«Ã½ student learning and research
• Item price and library budget cycle
• Item availability
• Number of similar items already in library

Who do I contact when I want to suggest a purchase?

All departments have a librarian assigned to collect for their disciplines. The ¹û¶³´«Ã½ librarians encourage faculty to recommend additions to the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Libraries' collections—especially those that support instruction. When requesting more than one item, we ask for a list prioritized by need. Justifications for how the material will support the curriculum are particularly helpful.
