Go to ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect and go to the group page of the organization you would like to contact. Meeting times and locations can be found on the “About” page for each group.

The first step to joining an organization is gathering information about that particular group through ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect.

Once you know the organization’s meeting times and location, attend one meeting. Be mindful that some groups have a selection process.

Selection information will be located in their ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect group.

Depending on your academic load and/or work schedule, we recommend that students be involved with at least one or two student groups.

If you are able to join more, that’s great! However, try not to over commit yourself.

• You can speak with representatives of student groups at Nighthawks Fest which is the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ student involvement fair on each campus. Nighthawks Fest is held at the beginning of each new semester. Look on the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect calendar to find your campus’s specific Nighthawks Fest.
• Utilize ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect to find out more about each club.
• Deciding what groups to be involved in are based on your personal preferences, values, and interests. You can start by asking yourself what do you enjoy or what do you want to learn more about?

1. Meet with the Sport Club Administrator on your campus to discuss student interest in the club and review requirements of the club – including facility equipment needs, operational needs, outlet for completion, instructional needs and feasibility at University of North Georgia.
2. Establish National Governing Body Requirement
   1. Sport Clubs must have a National Governing Body. Clubs must be a member of their club’s respective affiliation, governing body, conference, or league.
   2. Clubs who are not members of their respective affiliation, governing body, conference, or league will not be eligible to participate in any type of competition. This includes any scrimmage, tournament, game, or event where the club is competing against another university or club team.
   3. Participants must complete any insurance, physical fitness, equipment or competency requirements as mandated by respective affiliations, governing body, conferences, or leagues.
   4. Clubs are to abide by safety standards, precautions and guidelines required by respective leagues, affiliations, governing bodies, conferences, etc. for practices and contests.
3. Hold an interest meeting and gather names, student ID numbers, and contact information of interested individuals.
   • There needs to be at least 12-15 individuals present at the interest meeting for the potential club to move forward in the recognition process.
4. Establish leadership and club constitution
   • Decide club officers, advisors, etc, and construct a constitution for the club
5. Establish Risk Management Requirement
   1. At least 1 member of each club, (minimum of one officer) MUST be CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
   2. At least one of the certified members of a team need to be present at all practices, games and tournaments. Individuals that are certified need to have a copy of their certification card on file in the Office of Student Involvement.
   3. It is highly recommended that coaches be CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
   4. Each individual is encouraged to carry their own personal health insurance. The University of North Georgia does not provide any insurance for individuals or groups.
6. Approval Process
   1. Once the club is approved by the Office of Student Involvement, the club must be approved by the Sport Club Administrator.
   2. Clubs will be on probation for 6 months and are not eligible for funding until the probationary period is complete.
   3. The probationary period does NOT include summer months, only months during the academic school year will count toward the 6-month probationary period.

Of course! All students are welcome to join any ¹û¶³´«Ã½ club/organization. Keep in mind that some may have specific membership requirements.

• Log in to ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect.
• Click on “Organizations” in the horizontal menu bar near the top of the page. 
• In the search bar type in Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, or Oconee. 
• You can also tell where a club or event is located by the campus designation code found at the end of the club or event name. (BLR=Blue Ridge, CMG=Cumming, DAH=Dahlonega, GVL=Gainesville, OCN=Oconee)

• Recreational Sports is a great way to stay active. You can venture out into outdoor pursuits, attend some of the fitness classes or join an intramural team. 
• Attend a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ sponsored event. ¹û¶³´«Ã½ offers leadership conferences and trainings, lectures on various subjects, music and theater performances, art exhibitions, fairs, concerts, and more! Search the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Connect calendar for a list of events.
• Find an undergraduate research opportunity. Speak with your professors for more information or contact CURCA.
• Become a tutor or an SI (supplemental instruction) Facilitator.
• Find a volunteer opportunity in the local community. 
• Participate in an Alternative Service Break trip. 
• If you are a residential student, attend one of the many residence hall programs held throughout the semester.
• Study abroad!
• Attend campus events held by different student service offices (i.e. Student Involvement, Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Leadership, Multicultural Student Affairs, Career Services, Student Orientation and Success (SOS))

Absolutely! Most employers are flexible with college students, especially if you have an on-campus job. 

Most (but not all) clubs meet during the official ¹û¶³´«Ã½ “club hour” which is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. 

No classes (with a few exceptions) are scheduled during this time to help students make time to attend club meetings.
