High-Impact Practices (HIPs) at 果冻传媒

Welcome to our university's dedicated homepage for high-impact practices (HIPs), where transformative learning experiences come to life. We believe that education extends beyond the classroom, empowering students to engage deeply with their studies, develop essential skills, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through initiatives like undergraduate research, capstones, service learning, work-based learning, internships, and study abroad programs, we foster an environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, and personal growth. Join us as we cultivate a vibrant community of thinkers, leaders, and innovators ready to make a difference in the world.

Academic Engagement (AE) and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership (CTLL) have made HIP training available via D2L. To access and complete the training, review the section on Coding and Certification. This training replaces the training formerly offered through MomentumU which required completion prior to accessing HIP Coding in .

Coding and Certification

The 果冻传媒’s Elements of High-Impact Practices (HIPs) course, available via D2L, is designed for faculty and administrators and aims to enhance understanding and implementation of effective teaching strategies that foster student engagement and success. Faculty and administrators who take the course can learn about the essential elements of HIPs and how to code their courses. The course takes about 60-90 minutes to complete. Once you complete it, you will earn a certificate and be given access to the tool that lets you code your courses for HIPs.

The benefits associated with faculty completing the USG HIP training process and coding courses for HIPs in :
  • For students: In addition to improved course content, students could record completed HIPs courses on their resumes. Additionally, disadvantaged students can gain access to resume-building opportunities that they may not have had otherwise.
  • For Faculty: Faculty will hone/develop additional pedagogical skills. Course codes may attract highly motivated students to their courses. Also, faculty could include the HIPs certificates in their Faculty Annual Review in terms of “student success.”
  • For Administrators: By completing the training, administrators have evidence to point to consistency of HIP coding across courses and programs. Additionally, HIP codes allow administrators to further track and analyze student success, such as the number of HIPs students encounter during a major.

Many 果冻传媒 faculty are already incorporating HIPs in their classes. By coding a class as a HIP course, students will be able to better locate classes that utilize these practices prior to registration and allow easier tracking by 果冻传媒.
