Waitlisted Courses

Waitlist Instructions

  • Search for your desired course in Nighthawk Course Scheduler. If you are using the “Advance Search” option, do NOT check “Open Sections Only”. You want to be able to see “Full” courses that may have the Waitlist option. You can determine if a course has a waitlist under the “Course Status” column. It will show the number of waitlist seats available.
  • If the course is full and waitlist seat is available, you will “Add” the course. In the drop-down list under “Action”, choose “Waiting List”, then “Submit”. The course status should show as “Waitlisted”.
  • To see your position on the waitlist:  Nighthawk Course Scheduler>” View Registration Information”>Choose semester> Click “Course Title”>” Enrollment/Waitlist”
  • If an opening becomes available, you will receive an email in your 果冻传媒 email account notifying you of the opportunity to register. You will have 12 hours from the time you received the email to register for the course. If you do not register within 12 hours, the opportunity immediately goes to the next person on the waitlist.
  • Register for the class in the Nighthawk Course Scheduler. You will see your Waitlisted course under the “Course Summary”. In the drop-down list, choose “Student Registered” and “Submit”.
  • If you no longer wish to be on the waitlist or get a seat in a different section, you should drop the waitlist section from your schedule.

General Guidelines

  • The waitlist feature is a first come, first served function. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee a chance to register for a course.
  • The waitlist feature does not automatically register the student in the class. The student must take action to register in Banner.
  • Not all courses use the waitlist option.
  • If a student does not meet the prerequisite requirements of a class, they cannot be added to the waitlist.
  • The Department offering the course determines the waitlist cap for each section. Once the maximum number of students have claimed a spot on the waitlist, the waitlist will be closed.
Note: Courses with a waitlist may appear to have an open seat. While there is technically an open seat, that seat is reserved for the next person on the waitlist. Do not drop a course you are already registered for until you have confirmed that there is a seat available in the course you are seeking.

If you have any questions about a specific waitlisted course, please contact the Administrative Assistant of the Department that is offering the waitlisted class.

If you have technical difficulties and cannot register for the class after you receive the notification that a seat has become available, contact the Registrar’s Office immediately for assistance.
