Readmit Student Checklist

Welcome back to the University of North Georgia!

We are thrilled that you will be joining the Nighthawk family once again at the University of North Georgia! As a readmitted student, you’re bound to have tons of questions. Whether you have been away for a few semesters or a few years, the university constantly changes each academic year and so has the information pertinent to your transition as a Readmit Student.

1. Immediate Steps After Acceptance

1.1 Submit Your Confirmation of Acceptance Form

You can confirm your attendance to ��ý through the Log in to this page using your ��ý ID number or Social Security Number, and your date of birth. Beneath your admissions decision, select “Confirmation of Acceptance”. Complete the form as appropriate.

If you “confirm” your acceptance on the your registration time ticket will immediately become available. If you “confirm” your acceptance via a phone call to admissions or email, your registration time ticket will be assigned just after midnight the day you confirm, through an automated process.

When you “confirm” your admission, the “Readmit Student Orientation (RSO)” will become available to you and an “Orientation” hold will be placed on your account until you complete Orientation. You will need to Activate your ��ý account to access RSO on Banner.

You will not have to pay a “confirmation” fee.

1.2 Activate Your ��ý Account
You will use the same username and password to log in to a number of important university systems. to find your username and enroll in the password management system.

Note: When setting up your Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), before setting up biometric approvals (face/fingerprint), please define your phone for calls and texts to prevent issues when authenticating to additional devices.

Once you have activated your ��ý account, for your security, all ��ý contact and correspondence will be sent to your ��ý email account. Please also use your ��ý email account when contacting ��ý faculty and staff. It is important to be checking this email consistently on a weekly or daily basis.

Please note: After a student is admitted, it may take up to 48 hours before the student's information is available to activate. If you are not able to activate your ��ý account after 48 hours, contact the IT Service Desk at 706-864-1922 for assistance with activation.

Once complete, then you will be able to access and explore:

1.3 Apply for Financial Aid
If you’d like assistance in paying your tuition and fees, the Financial Aid office may be able to help. Financial aid encompasses both federal and state aid programs, including federal loans, scholarships (for academics, athletics, leadership, etc.), and VA benefits. We encourage you to explore all your options and carefully determine the right amount of aid for your circumstances. ��ý offers a convenient payment plan through a third-party company to arrange monthly payments. If interested, students can enroll in the payment plan in Banner after class registration.

After submitting your financial aid application, you should be very pro-active in monitoring your eligibility and award status via your BannerWeb account.

Special Notes for Transfer Students:

If you have already submitted your FAFSA for the academic year you will be attending ��ý, you will need to go to to make a correction to your FAFSA by adding ��ý's school code: 001585

Loans at your prior school must be canceled before you can request any remaining loan funds from ��ý.

All final transcripts from prior schools must be submitted to ��ý before your financial aid eligibility is determined.

The Financial Aid Timeline is a helpful tool for all students.

Important Note: Although you can apply for most forms of aid at any time during the academic year, it’s best to submit your application and all required supporting documents before the priority deadlines to ensure your aid can be processed and awarded prior to the start of term.

1.4 Register for the Required Readmit Student Orientation (RSO)
The summer and fall 2024 orientation reservation system is open.

Degree-seeking Readmit Students admitted to ��ý for the summer and fall 2024 semester are required to register and complete a self-paced online orientation course. Once this self-paced course is complete, your orientation hold will be lifted.

When you make your reservation, you will be charged a $65 orientation fee and gain access to the online orientation course. Payment extensions are available and can be requested by submitting the

The “OR” hold will be removed from your student account after your complete your self-paced readmit orientation course

1.5 Complete eCore Introduction Quiz

Complete the whether or not you plan to take an online course at this time. The quiz takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

eCore courses are designed, developed, taught and supported by faculty and staff from the University System of Georgia (USG) and are a great option for completing core curriculum requirements.

Please note: The (start/stop dates) is different from the normal ��ý academic calendar.

1.6 Confirm Your Housing Arrangements

Only the Dahlonega Campus offers on-campus residential housing. Students enrolling on all other campuses can use the to learn more about rental and roommate options near those campuses.

There is a residential housing requirement on the Dahlonega campus for students that have not satisfied the minimum semester hour requirement with very limited exceptions. All full-time students accepted on the Dahlonega campus of ��ý should carefully review the Residence Policy.

Dahlonega Residential Students (Non-Cadet)

If accepted as a residential student on the Dahlonega Campus, you must submit a housing application. Once your Confirmation of Acceptance form processes, the Office of Residence Life will email additional instructions via ��ý Student Email. This email also signifies that you now have access to the Housing portal/application process. You are encouraged to start the process as soon as possible and monitor your ��ý emails closely once you have started for further instructions.

Please note that even if you decide not to attend ��ý, you are still responsible for the $150 housing application fee if you have already applied for housing. If you decide not to attend after choosing a bed and submitting the housing contract, you must submit a completed Housing Cancellation Request to the Office of Residence Life. Financial penalties may apply.

Cadet Housing Contract

Cadets will need to visit the Cadet Housing page to sign housing contracts.

Cadets who apply for housing will be charged a $150 one-time, nonrefundable housing application fee. After signing your Cadet Housing Contract, the Assistant Commandant will notify the business office to apply this fee to your student invoice within 7-10 business days and you may pay it with your tuition and fees.

Be sure to follow all other steps in the Cadet Admissions Manual.

1.7 Submit a Photo for Your ��ý ID Card (Nighthawks Card)

Visit the ��ý ID Card Photo Submission page to see photo guidelines and the photo submission portal. Students required to attend orientation must upload a photo at least three business days prior to your orientation session.

Note: Online Photo Submission for new terms will not be available until the below dates.

2. Actions to Complete for Academic Advisement and to Prepare for Registration

2.1 Review Your Transfer Credit Evaluation
Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select "Student Records"

Select "Student Tranguid (Advising Transcript/Current Grades)"

In-progress courses – credit for courses you are currently enrolled in, have completed while in the admissions process, or completed since the last time you submitted a transcript from your previous institution will not be applied until an official transcript indicating grades is received

Course credit for AP or other test credit – Official scores may not have been received from the testing agency used to take the tests, which is needed to post this credit

Non-transferable courses – some credit may not have been accepted based on the accreditation of the institution where the courses were taken or based on the technical nature of the coursework.

Any test scores or transcripts that have not been sent to ��ý should be sent as soon as possible (with final grades or scores indicated) to ensure application of appropriate credit to your record.

2.2 Schedule an Academic Advisement Appointment

Academic Advising

Your academic advisor is listed on your “Student Tranguid” under Student Records on . Reference the Find Out How to... page for additional information on Academic Advising procedures.

You can begin to create a personalized plan of study before your advising appointment by accessing . Learn more about using Degree Works. The will also show you available classes that may fit your schedule.

Meet with your academic advisor and plan your courses.

2.3 Check for Holds
Log in to and select the Student view

On the Banner Student Home Page, underneath the “Student Services” section, select “Student Profile”

On the right-hand side, select "Holds"

Orientation (OR) Hold: If you have an OR hold, please note it will be automatically removed once you complete orientation requirements.

Registration Agreement Needed (RN) Hold: This hold prohibits registration. It is required every six months.

To remove the hold:

Log in to and select the Student view

Select the four-square icon in the upper left corner

Select "Banner"

Select "Student"

Select ""

Read the terms of agreement and select "I agree" at the bottom

Once "I agree" is selected, the hold will be removed

Reference the Student Holds website for an explanation of other holds and how to remove them.

Immunization Hold: Please note you are required to have up-to-date immunization records on file with Student Health Services. If you have an immunization hold, updates are needed. You can contact Student Health Services for more information. This hold will prevent you from registering for classes.

2.4 Set Up Your Accessibility Accommodations (If Applicable)

As you may already know, obtaining special accommodations in college is different than it is in high school. If you previously had an IEP, 504 plan, or other documentation that would reflect the need for accommodations, please contact the Office of Student Accessibility Services to discuss your specific needs and the process to receive accommodations at ��ý. Please be advised that the intake process takes time, so it’s important to schedule an appointment before the start of term to ensure your accommodations are in place when classes begin. Students must actively request accommodations, even when they transfer from another college, through the Student Accessibility Services office in order to receive them.

Once registered, you will need to notify your professor(s) in order to receive special accommodations.

3. Class Registration and Tuition Payment

3.1 Registration Time Ticket

If you “confirmed” your acceptance on the you will have your registration time ticket available immediately. If you “confirmed” your acceptance via a phone call to admissions or email, your registration time ticket will be assigned just after midnight through an automated process. When you “confirm” your admission, you will then be able to access the online “Orientation” system and a hold will be placed on your account until you complete Orientation. Once you have completed Orientation, completed academic advising and resolved any other “holds”, you will be ready to register.

3.2 Class Registration
Once you have chosen your classes, you should confirm your choices with your academic advisor and then register. If you have no holds, you can register prior to your academic advising appointment and then use the add/drop system to make any necessary schedule changes after meeting with your advisor.

Run Degree Works again after you register. All of the classes you have registered for will show up as "IP." Make sure your courses are all there and that they fill a degree requirement.

Note regarding D2L (��ý ONLINE) courses: If you register for a D2L course PRIOR to drop/add, you will be able to see the course in D2L approximately two days before classes begin. If you add a D2L class during drop/add, it will be 24 hours after you add the course before you are able to access the course.

3.3 Schedule Adjustments
Students have until noon on the last day of drop/add to make schedule adjustments, pending course availability.

Please review the Core Curriculum and your Plan of Study before attempting any schedule adjustments.

Find information on how to register using the Nighthawk Registration system. You will be able to search for in-person, hybrid, and online courses within the Nighthawk Registration system.

You can reach out to your Academic Advisor for assistance if you are unable to adjust your schedule on your own.

The Academic Advisor is listed on your Tranguid in Banner. You can also go to and search for an appointment time with your advisor.

3.4 Review Invoice, Pay Tuition and Fee Bill, and Sign Up for Payment Plan

Please visit the Payment Deadlines & Information webpage for approximate information on when to pay fees. Learn more about viewing and paying your student invoice.

If you have been classified as an out-of-state resident for tuition classification purposes but believe this designation is incorrect, please review the residency policy and complete the Application for In-State Tuition.

4. Items to Complete Before the Start of Classes

4.1 Order Your Virtual Parking Permit

All vehicles on campus are required to register for a valid ��ý parking permit. Parking permits will be available for registration for summer and fall starts on August 1. Students beginning classes in the summer semester do not need to register for a parking permit until August 1. Learn more about registering your vehicle.

4.2 Review the Tech Talk Guide

The Tech Talk guide is an introduction to the highly utilized technologies available at ��ý. Students should be familiar with each of the items in this guide.

To access the Tech Talk Checklist, log in to . Go to Menu Bar on the left side of the ��ý Connect home page. Scroll down to My Checklist and click on Tech Talk Guide. You will see a series of items with clickable links. As you complete each item, please mark the checkbox. Keep going until your completion bar reads 100%.

4.3 Order Textbooks

Find textbooks for your courses at the ��ý Bookstore.

4.4 Register for Campus Mailbox (Dahlonega - Residential Only)

Residential students on the Dahlonega Campus can complete the to receive a mailbox at the ��ý Post Office located in Hoag Student Center.
